TiaThe dressing lends a salty, sour, sweet, garlicky and spicy flavor to this dish...the fishiness of the fish sauce is an added bonus. :) If you absolutely cannot get fish sauce, then you can substitute with sea salt. In fact, many of the restaurants put very little fish sauce and compensate with salt to lesson the fishy smell for the Western palette. Cheers!

mishmashyummy... this is one of the things i miss soooo much now that i'm stuck in a small town. sigh, i haven't found fish sauce around here yet. can i use a substitute?
